Shirley Spear of The Three Chimneys at Colbost in North West Skye, was honoured to receive the Highland Ambassador Award at the annual Highlands & Islands Tourism Awards presented at the Drumossie Hotel, Inverness in October. Shirley and husband Eddie Spear, have just completed 28 years in business in Skye, during which time, their 5-Star Restaurant with Rooms has risen to international fame for its high-quality food and customer service. Shirley is passionate about all aspects of the Hospitality and Tourism Industry, particularly its future growth and development as a major employer and significant economic provider in the Highlands and Islands.

We are delighted to announce that SKye and Lochalsh Marketing Ltd won the Award in the category of ‘Working Together for Tourism’, which is a fabulous accolade for www.skye.co.uk and the islands marketing campaign. Obviously huge thanks are extended to all of our members and advertisers. Directors, Angus, Aileen and their partners, attended a glittering event in the Drumossie Hotel in Inverness on Friday night to receive the award. We would like to emphasise that attendance was at our own personal expense, as we felt, that in the current economic climate it would have been inappropriate to utilise your marketing budget to fund our attendance. We did have a fabulous time, and were proud and excited to be there. May we also take this opportunity to extend our congratulations to The Three Chimneys and House Over-by, who won in the category of, “Highlands & Islands Pride Award”. As we shared a table with Shirley, Eddie, Sarah and Richard, resounding cheers were heard on the night and Skye & Lochalsh certainly made an impact. It was a great night for the island. SLM Ltd are delighted to announce their short listing as finalists in the Highland Tourism Awards. The Awards Ceremony will take place in Inverness on Friday the 18th of November and there's no doubt a WIN would make a great start to our 10th birthday celebrations.
