Cold, damp and drafty! Well perhaps in the 15th century but not any more. Croft house museums, and castles all offer an inspired day out, away from the elements. In fact experiencing them from the cosy protection of the modern interior looking outwards, makes you really think about what life must have been like for many of our British ancestors!
