Skye Sportif Cycle Road Races 2017 (Skye Mor & Skye Beag)
Description:  The Skye Mor and Skye Beag, are spectacular road races that tests the endurance of the most committed riders. Starting in Portree and following the Trotternish Peninsula north between the cliffs of the Quiraing and the Atlantic Ocean, where riders will feel that they are on the edge of the world. As the road snakes around the island, up steep hills, round hairpin bends and along single track roads, the coast and its islands are forever on the horizon. Heading west the riders endure long slow, rises, face into the wind, passing through Dunvegan, and heading south itís not long before The Cuillin Mountains are directly ahead, and mountains donít get any more dramatic than this! Passing the turnoff to Talisker Distillery they head on to Sligachan where they sweep north back on their final ascent back to the finish at Portree. The Skye Mor race covers 95 miles with an ascent of 5914ft/1802m while the shorter but no less challenging Skye Beag covers 48 miles with a rise of 5166ft/1610m. Not for the faint hearted but what an achievement. ENTRY IS OPEN at this link
